Drama

Expand your acting, singing and storytelling ability.

Drama opportunities

Your children can join others in several drama productions that our school puts on throughout the year.

Arborbrook’s spring production will feature high school students performing Shrek, the Musical on April 19, 20, and 21 at 7:00 pm. Arborbrook High School students have the opportunity to audition for and participate in this full-scale Broadway musical. Beginning with the audition process to the closing number, students engage in all aspects of musical theater while being taught by theater professionals.

While this is a tremendous opportunity for our students, they also have the privilege of participating in the 2018 Blumey Awards. The Blumey Awards recognize excellence in high school musical theatre programs. We hope you can join us for this year’s production.

Fall Production

Each fall Arborbrook offers a drama elective for Grades 4-8 where students have the opportunity to expand their acting, singing, and movement skills as they discover what it takes to put on a musical. Students also explore theater vocabulary, storytelling through music and dance, developing character, and most importantly: collaboration and focus. Our performances have included Schoolhouse Rock, American Jukebox, a Musical Review, and most recently, Selected Songs and Scenes from Seussical the Musical.

Spring Musical

Arborbrook High School students have the opportunity every spring to audition for and participate in a full-scale Broadway musical. Beginning with the audition process to the closing number, students engage in all aspects of musical theater while being taught by theater professionals. Arborbrook participates in the Blumey Awards, a Blumenthal Theater program that recognizes excellence in high school musical theater in the Charlotte area. Arborbrook won a Blumey Award in 2016 for Best Supporting Actress in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. This year’s spring musical is Shrek the Musical, directed by Charlene Thomas. Performance dates are April 19, 20, and 21 at 7 pm.
